HONOLULU (AP) - The state plans to compile a list of Hawaii's native endangered species to secure wildlife conservation funding from Congress.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources has a six-month deadline to complete its Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy a list of Hawaii's endangered plants, birds and insects to receive money under the State Wildlife Grant Program.
Wildlife managers hope to make conservation work more effective by ranking those species that are in greatest need of help.
