LONDON (AP) - Two-time Olympic gold medalist Haile Gebrselassie and former Olympic and world champion Gezahegne Abera have pulled out of the London Marathon.
Gebrselassie, a two-time Olympic champion in the 10,000 meters, withdrew Tuesday because of tendinitis in his left Achilles. Gebrselassie, who has not won a major marathon, said the injury interrupted his training for the April 17 race.
Gebrselassie has a three-year contract with London and said he expects to run next year.
