MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - After one turn through their rotation, the Chicago White Sox couldn't be happier with the result. Carl Everett, Timo Perez and Paul Konerko each homered in support of starter Jon Garland, and the White Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 8-5 Saturday night to improve their AL-best record to 4-1.
Sent back to the hotel with the flu on Friday, Garland wasn't sure if he'd be allowed to start this one. But he gave Chicago six solid innings, allowing 10 hits and three runs without a walk. He struck out one.
"You see the guys on your team going out, giving it their all and doing great you just want to do that much better," Garland said.
