TOKYO (AP) - The number of corporate bankruptcies in Japan dropped 18.1 percent in March from the same month a year earlier, in the 27th straight month of decline, a private research agency said Thursday.
The continuing decline is the second-longest period that corporate failures have fallen since World War II.
A total of 1,100 companies went bankrupt last month with combined debts totaling 560.5 billion yen ($5.19 billion). The amount of debts fell 57.2 percent from a year earlier, Teikoku Databank said.
