MOSCOW (AP) - Russian prosecutors filed new murder charges Thursday against a former official of the beleaguered oil giant Yukos, who already has been convicted of murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
In the new charges, prosecutors accused Alexei Pichugin, once a top Yukos security officer, of staging a businesswoman's murder in 1998 and plotting two attempts to kill a businessman in 1998 and 1999, the Prosecutor General's office said in a statement.
The Prosecutor General's spokeswoman Natalya Vishnyakova said Pichugin had committed the crimes on orders from Yukos shareholder Leonid Nevzlin, who is wanted in Russia and lives in self-imposed exile in Israel.
