NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - An Israeli bomb expert and a Kenyan official failed to show up in court Thursday, delaying the resumption of a trial for four men accused of involvement in the 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassy and a 2003 plot to blow up the new U.S. Embassy.
The development came one day after a lawyer for one of the suspects said U.S. officials are preparing to seek the extradition of two suspects.
A prosecutor told High Court Judge John Osiemo that the Israeli bomb expert failed to show up because of scheduling problems. The expert, whose identity was withheld for security reasons, has repeatedly failed to turn up in court since he was first scheduled to give evidence in March.
