HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) - President Robert Mugabe announced a new cabinet on Saturday, handing out spoils to loyalists after winning a March election that opposition supporters insist was tainted by fraud.
Zimbabwe state radio, which announced the appointments, said the new cabinet would "spearhead the economic development of the country."
After claiming a two-thirds majority for his party in March 31 parliamentary polls, Mugabe suggested amending the constitution to defer presidential elections when his current term expires in 2008. He spoke of retiring "when I am a century old."
