SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) - The wreckage of a World War II-era U.S. war plane was found in a river in northern Brazil, Brazil's news agency said Saturday.
Archeologists of a local museum discovered the aircraft in the town of Cutias do Araguari, 1,700 miles north of Sao Paulo in the jungle state of Amapa. The plane was found in a small river, with its engine and propeller sticking out of the water.
During the war, the United States established a base about 300 miles from where the plane was found, the archeologists told Agencia Brasil agency.
