CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Carolina Panthers on Wednesday signed linebacker Chris Draft and punter Tom Rouen, a sign that Todd Sauerbrun's days with the team are likely coming to an end.
Sauerbrun, a two-time Pro Bowler, has been involved in a series of embarrassing on- and off-field incidents ranging from refusing to handle kicking duties unless he was paid for it to a drunk driving arrest, and his name recently came up as a player who allegedly obtained illegal steroids.
The Panthers have already signed punter Steve Cheek, and now they've added Rouen, a 12-year veteran who averaged 42 yards a punt last season for Seattle before a pulled hamstring ended his season after four games.
