ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - The Tampa Bay Devil Rays recalled outfielder Jonny Gomes from Triple-A Durham on Thursday and optioned pitcher John Webb to the International League club.
Gomes hit .315 with five homers and 20 RBIs in 14 games for Durham.
Webb made his first career start and fifth major league appearance Wednesday after being called up from Durham earlier in the day. He was the loser, allowing eight runs and six hits over four-plus innings as Texas beat the Devil Rays 12-10.
