ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - David Dellucci is seeing the ball better after eye surgery during the offseason. Still, that doesn't really explain why Dellucci suddenly became a big walker and is tied with New York's Derek Jeter for the AL lead with 19 bases on balls.
"I just think right now, just the way it's falling is that they're not throwing pitches for strikes for me," Dellucci said. "That's probably the bottom line. I'm an aggressive hitter, and I'm not trying to look to get a walk."
Ahead in the count 3-0 in his first at-bat Wednesday night against Seattle's Ryan Franklin, Dellucci got a pitch up and in, likely ball four. But he swung and fouled it off before walking on the next pitch.
