KINSHASA, Congo (AP) - A Russian-made airplane clipped a treetop during its landing approach and crashed in central Congo Thursday, killing 10 of the 11 passengers aboard, officials said.
The Antonov-26 went down 17 miles north of Kisangani, said Mouhamoud Hashi, an official with the U.N.'s humanitarian-aid coordination bureau in Congo.
"According to the information we have received, one passenger survived but 10 others who were aboard are dead," Hashi said by telephone from Kisangani.
