NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Prosecutors on Tuesday dropped charges of conspiracy against three Kenyans who had been suspected of plotting to bomb the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi in 1998 and 2003.
The suspects are still charged with conspiracy related to the Nov. 28, 2002, bombing of the Israeli-owned hotel and attempts to shoot down an Israeli airliner north of the Indian Ocean port of Mombasa. The hotel attack killed 15 people, including three Israeli tourists.
Prosecutor Edwin Okello refused to say why the charges were dropped in the court of the Nairobi Chief Magistrate Aggrey Muchelule.
