PITTSBURGH (AP) - A former German soldier has filed a defamation lawsuit over accusations that he was a member of the Nazi SS during World War II.
Rupert Aumer, who has lived in Pittsburgh since 1950, said the allegation that appeared on an international newspaper's Web site harmed his family's reputation and has made him fear for his life.
In a lawsuit filed Friday, the 79-year-old Aumer alleged he was wrongly called a former Nazi in an online question-and-answer session featuring a Nazi hunter. Aumer is seeking at least $100,000 in damages against businessman Bernardo Katz and Palestine Post Ltd., which publishes The Jerusalem Post.
