George Lucas to Guest Star on 'The O.C.'

Wednesday, May 11, 2005 5:51:07 PM
By JAKE COYLE

In this recent but undated photo courtesy of Sony BMG Masterworks, movie director and producer George Lucas, left, poses in a photo with music conductor and composer John Williams. When Williams started working with Lucas on "Star Wars," America was celebrating its bicentennial. The composer was 44, balding with dark hair around the sides and graying beard. The five-time Oscar winner is now 73, with white hair and beard, but the force is still with him. (AP Photo/Courtesy of Sony BMG Masterworks)NEW YORK (AP) - A week before the last installment of "Star Wars" opens, George Lucas is stopping by "The O.C." On Thursday's episode of the Fox show (8 p.m. ET), the master Jedi will guest star as himself. In a lucky twist of fate for Seth Cohen (Adam Brody), Lucas will express interest in Cohen's graphic novel.

"We were looking to take the `Seth graphic novel' story line to its apex in this episode and it felt like the Holy Grail, the top of Everest to have Seth come face to face with Lucas," Josh Schwartz, the creator of "The O.C.," told The Associated Press Wednesday.

While guest stars such as Cohen's favorite band, Death Cab for Cutie, have been frequent on the show, Schwartz is quick to point out that Cohen "always manages to screw everything up."
