NBA Star Pledges to Work Against Md. Crime

(AP Photo/ Steve Ruark)BALTIMORE (AP) - Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony, criticized for appearing in a video celebrating witness intimidation, joined Gov. Robert Ehrlich and other officials Wednesday to announce a new violence prevention initiative.

Anthony said he could be a positive influence on inner city youth because he has firsthand experience with the pressures they face.

"If you all don't listen to these guys, please listen to me, because you all probably can relate to me more than you all can relate to these guys," Anthony told a crowd that had gathered.
