ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen will likely be placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained left shoulder, the team physician said Wednesday night.
"Realistically, we're probably not looking at a couple of days," Dr. George Paletta said after the Cardinals' 9-3 victory over the Dodgers. "Based on how he looked today, that's probably the most likely outcome unless he makes a significant, unexpected improvement between today and tomorrow and the MRI is entirely normal."
Paletta examined Rolen's shoulder at around game time, and scheduled an MRI for Thursday morning. If the MRI detects structural damage, the time frame for Rolen's return could be longer than 15 days.
