COMMERCE, Ga. (AP) - Warren Johnson topped Pro Stock qualifying Saturday in the Summit Racing NHRA Southern Nationals at the Atlanta Dragway, the 61-year-old star's final event on his home track.
Johnson, from nearby Buford, earned his record 133rd No. 1 qualifying position with a quarter-mile run of 6.749 seconds at 204.54 mph.
In Top Fuel, 21-year old Morgan Lucas, the youngest driver in his class, led qualifying for the first time in his career with a 4.541-second pass at 326.40 mph. Also, Gary Scelzi topped the Funny Car field at 4.782 and 326.87 mph, and Andrew Hines led the Pro Stock Motorcycle lineup at 7.092 and 189.87 mph.
