ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Steve Karsay signed a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers on Sunday, three days after the New York Yankees released the multimillion dollar reliever.
Karsay appeared in just 13 games over the last two seasons for the Yankees, unable to regain his form after shoulder surgery. He had a 6.00 ERA over six appearances this season, allowing 10 hits in six innings.
Coming off a successful 2001 season split with Cleveland and Atlanta, Karsay signed a $22.5 million, four-year deal to become the Yankees' setup man.
