NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A single-engine airplane crashed Monday near a small airport, killing the teenage pilot and passenger, authorities said.
The plane, a Piper Super Cub, crashed shortly after takeoff in trees outside John C. Tune Airport, which primarily serves regional corporate and private aircraft, authorities said.
The pilot was identified as John Cheadle III, 19, of Nashville, who had been a licensed pilot for two years, said Lynne Lowrance, spokeswoman for the Metro Nashville Airport Authority. His passenger was identified Trevor Yarbrough, 18, of Nashville.
