TOKYO (AP) - The dollar continued to lose ground against major currencies in early Friday trading in Asia as players awaited the release of U.S. data later in the day.
The dollar was trading at 107.88 yen late morning, down 0.40 yen from late Thursday in Tokyo and below the 108.27 yen it bought in New York later that day. The euro rose to $1.2283 from $1.2268 late Thursday in Tokyo but slipped to 132.59 yen from 132.84 yen.
The market was awaiting the release of U.S. economic data later in the day such as nonfarm payrolls and the May unemployment rate for indications on the health of the American economy.
