Ethiopian police stop Ethiopian students as they demonstrate outside Addis Ababa Tegbareed Industrial College in the capital's Mexico area, Tuesday, June 7, 2005. Police raided a technical college in Ethiopia's capital Tuesday, beating up students and firing rubber bullets on the second day of defiance of a government ban on demonstrations, witnesses said. Clashes between police and student demonstrators on Monday left a girl dead, seven people injured and hundreds arrested in protests against disputed election results that left parliament in the hands of the ruling party. (AP Photo)ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) - Police raided a technical college Tuesday in Ethiopia's capital, firing rubber bullets and beating up students defying a government ban on protests.

It was the second day police and students have clashed over disputed election results that gave the ruling party control of parliament. One girl was killed and seven people were wounded in Monday's violence. Hundreds were arrested.

On Tuesday, about 200 youths gathered outside the college in Addis Ababa, throwing rocks at passing vehicles and demanding the release of students detained Monday. Police responded by charging into the crowd in an armored truck and clubbing protesters using butts of their rifles and batons.
