KATMANDU, Nepal (AP) - Communist rebels ambushed a public bus east of Nepal's capital, killing at least six soldiers and two civilians on board, the Nepalese army said Saturday.
The rebels hid in bushes beside the mountainous highway Friday evening and fired at the passing bus, which carried soldiers along with civilians, the army said in a statement from its headquarters.
The attack near the village of Narke, 75 miles east of the capital, Katmandu, came several days after rebel leaders said they would no longer attack civilian vehicles or targets.
