SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Bruce Bowen makes his living with stifling defense. When he started making open shots as well in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, the Detroit Pistons were doomed. Bowen matched his playoff high with 15 points in the San Antonio Spurs' 97-76 victory on Sunday night. The veteran forward hit four 3-pointers, including three wide-open baskets from the sideline in the second half.
The Pistons often seemed to cede open shots to Bowen not a bad strategy against a player who made just 32 percent of his shots in the Spurs' first 17 playoff games. In Game 1, he went 0-for-6 in 35 minutes and didn't score.
But Bowen started shooting and didn't stop, actually leading San Antonio with 13 shots.
