FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - FIFA president Sepp Blatter threatened to suspend three Mexican players if they don't show up for the Confederations Cup.
Midfielders Alberto Medina and Ramon Morales and forward Omar Bravo, who all play for Guadalajara's Chivas, are on the roster for Mexico, which opens against Japan in Hanover on Thursday. But the club wants them released to play in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores, South America's club championship.
"Their players cannot be replaced," Blatter said Monday. "These players will have to show up on the pitch. If they do not they will be suspended from playing for their club."
