 SEATTLE (AP) - Gil Meche pitched eight strong innings, and the Seattle Mariners snapped the Philadelphia Phillies' six-game winning streak with a 3-1 victory Tuesday night.
Meche (6-4) allowed one run and three hits, struck out four and allowed just two runners past first. He earned his fourth win in his last six starts.
Dave Hansen, filling in for Adrian Beltre at third, homered in the seventh inning and drove in two runs. Beltre was held out of the lineup after straining his left hamstring Sunday in Washington. He is listed as day-to-day.
