Saints' Smith Won't Face Assault Charges

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - New Orleans Saints safety Dwight Smith will not face charges stemming from his March arrest for allegedly pulling a pellet gun on two fans who approached his car outside a fast-food restaurant.

The Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office opted not to bring charges, saying it could not determine if Smith was the person actually holding the gun.

Smith, who was originally charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, has spent most of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccanneers but signed this year with New Orleans.
