SEATTLE (AP) - Ichiro Suzuki hit a leadoff homer and Aaron Sele made it stand up with six solid innings in his sixth straight strong start Wednesday night, leading the Seattle Mariners to a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Mike Morse hit his first major league home run, a two-run shot, and Randy Winn also connected in Seattle's second win in a row over the Phillies.
The 34-year-old Sele, who claimed a spot in the Mariners' rotation this spring as a non-roster invitee, held the Phillies to eight hits and a first-inning run. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth by inducing Jim Thome to fly out to center.
