PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) - South Africa's ousted deputy president, once considered the most likely to become the country's next leader, will appear in court next week to face corruption charges, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Jacob Zuma's trial is set for June 29, said Makhosini Nkosi, spokesman for the National Prosecuting Authority.
Zuma, who denies any wrongdoing, said prosecutors told him Monday that he would face criminal charges in a bribery scandal involving his financial adviser and friend, Schabir Shaik, who was convicted earlier this month of fraud and corruption.
