CLEVELAND (AP) - Cristiano da Matta is quickly getting back up to speed.
After winning his first Champ Car race in three years last weekend, da Matta won the provisional pole at the Grand Prix of Cleveland on Friday, edging Paul Tracy by just four-thousandths of a second.
With only two laps left for him to qualify, da Matta posted a lap of 58.436 seconds, only .004 seconds ahead of Tracy, who had been fastest all day and may have topped da Matta if he hadn't clipped a tire barrier.
