AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - The Dutch economy shrank by half a percent in the first quarter of this year, more than previously estimated, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported Wednesday.
It was the first time since 2003 that the economy registered a contraction, the bureau said, attributing it to a decline in private and government consumption and a slowdown in the growth of exports.
"This is the first time in six quarters that quarter-on-quarter growth is negative again," the bureau said.
