ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) - Election results for more than half the seats in Ethiopia's parliament show the ruling party and opposition in a virtual tie, but results for the remaining seats from the May vote have been delayed to check claims of fraud, election officials said Friday.
The ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front and its smaller political allies have won 158 seats to 148 seats for the opposition coalitions, said Kemal Bedri, chairman of the National Electoral Board.
Results for the remaining seats in the 547-seat parliament were being delayed pending investigations after complaints of fraud by both sides, but mostly from the opposition, Bedri said.
