 BALTIMORE (AP) - Boston Red Sox right-hander Matt Clement will replace injured Toronto pitcher Roy Halladay on the American League squad in the All-Star game, Boston manager Terry Francona announced Saturday.
Halladay, who would have started for the AL, was struck in the left shin Friday night by a line drive off the bat of Texas' Kevin Mench.
X-rays revealed a fracture, and Halladay is expected to be sidelined for at least a month. The 2003 Cy Young winner is 12-4 with a 2.41 ERA.
