MILWAUKEE (AP) - Motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson Inc. said Wednesday its second-quarter profit fell by 4 percent because of a planned production cut that has triggered lawsuits and a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation.
For the quarter ended June 26, Harley's profit fell to $237.4 million from $247.2 million a year ago, but earnings per share rose to 84 cents from 83 cents thanks to a massive share buyback in the period.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial were looking for earnings of 79 cents per share.
