TOKYO (AP) - The dollar rose against the yen early Friday in Asian trading after positive U.S. economic data and strong earnings bolstered confidence in the currency.
The dollar traded at 112.16 yen in late morning Tokyo trading, up 0.33 yen from late Thursday, but below the 112.34 yen it bought in New York later that day. The euro rose to $1.2095 from $1.2080 late Thursday in Tokyo.
In New York late Thursday, the British pound fell to $1.7580 from $1.7617, while the dollar fell to 1.2896 Swiss francs from 1.2884, but rose to 1.209 Canadian dollars from 1.2063.
