By DAVE CAMPBELL

Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire races toward plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt to share a few words after he was ejected protesting the call after Joe Mauer was called out in the eighth Monday, July 18, 2005 in Minneapolis. The Orioles won 3-2 in 11 innings. (AP Photo/Jim Mone)MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire had a discussion Tuesday with baseball's head disciplinarian, Bob Watson, regarding his postgame tirade about umpire Hunter Wendelstedt.

Gardenhire said he was sorry for the way he handled the situation, which began with an ejection for arguing Wendelstedt's high strike call and ended with a profanity-filled rant to reporters in his office following Minnesota's loss to Baltimore on Monday.

"That's the wrong thing to do," Gardenhire said before Tuesday night's game. "No matter how frustrated you get, you should never let it get to that point."
