LONDON (AP) - Olympic champion Justin Gatlin is happy to be a marked man. The 100-meter gold medalist is aiming for his first World Championship title next month. His toughest test comes at Friday's Crystal Palace meet when he faces Asafa Powell for the first time since the Jamaican became the new world-record holder.
"It's as if he feels what I feel now," Gatlin said Thursday. "Any champion coming off an Olympic year has a target on their back. Everybody is coming for them, everybody is coming to beat them, so basically the only thing you can do is to turn right round and shoot back at everybody else."
Gatlin beat Powell in a photo finish on June 4 in Eugene, Ore., when both ran a wind-aided 9.84.
