BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (AP) - A former housecleaner was charged Thursday in the slayings of a pastor and his daughter, whose bludgeoned and bound bodies were discovered after a fire in their suburban home, police said Thursday.
Russell H. Sedelmaier, who worked in the home for at least five years, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of home invasion and one count of aggravated arson, said Cook County state's attorney's spokeswoman Marcy Jensen.
At a court hearing later in the day, Sedelmaier was ordered held without bail. Appearing with a public defender, he did not make any statement.
