TOKYO (AP) - Japanese largest mobile carrier, NTT DoCoMo Inc., reported 22 percent profit growth Friday for the April-June quarter, thanks to its cost-cutting efforts and a gain on the sale of its shareholdings.
Group net income totaled 207.86 billion yen ($1.85 billion) in the three months ended June 30, up from 170.38 billion during the same period last year, Japan's largest mobile phone service operator said in a statement.
Although its group revenue dropped 2.8 percent to 1.187 trillion yen ($10.59 billion) from 1.221 trillion yen, its operating profit grew 4.0 percent to 287.61 billion, NTT DoCoMo said.
