TUALATIN, Ore. (AP) - The Portland Trail Blazers introduced the two newest components of their rebuilding project on Thursday. The team was waiting, however, for word on whether the trade that sent Shareef Abdur-Rahim to the New Jersey Nets would fall through.
Abdur-Rahim was at the center of a sign-and-trade Tuesday with the Trail Blazers getting a protected first-round draft choice in return. The deal was put on hold Thursday by New Jersey after questions arose during the forward's physical.
But the Blazers still showed off free agent guards Juan Dixon and Charles Smith, who they signed to multiyear contracts, shoring up an inexperienced backcourt.
