ST. LOUIS (AP) - Monsanto Co. has completed the sale of its Monsanto Enviro-Chem unit to a new company formed by the management team at the subsidiary and an outside investor, officials from both companies said Monday.
Terms of the sale first announced in April were not disclosed. It is part of St. Louis-based Monsanto's narrowing of its focus to agribusiness. Monsanto makes Roundup herbicides, bioengineered seeds and other products.
The sale will have no impact on jobs at either company, Monsanto spokesman Bryan Hurley said. The company, now known as MECS Inc., will continue operating from the same facilities in St. Louis.
