MIAMI (AP) - Tropical Storm Irene weakened into a tropical depression Monday, and Tropical Storm Harvey was falling apart in the cooler waters of the north Atlantic, forecasters said. Neither threatened land.
At 11 p.m. EDT, the tropical depression was poorly organized with top sustained winds of about 35 mph, just below the 39 mph threshold for a tropical storm.
It was centered about 740 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and moving west-northwest near 13 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
