LIMA, Peru (AP) - Peru's new foreign minister said Saturday he was resigning his post, just two days after the uproar from his appointment sparked a major shake-up of President Alejandro Toledo's Cabinet.
Fernando Olivera said Toledo asked him to step aside late Friday after Prime Minister Carlos Ferrero quit in protest of the appointment. That forced Toledo to ask all of his ministers to tender their resignations, as required by Peru's Constitution when the Cabinet chief quits.
Toledo said he is evaluating the resignations and would make changes to the Cabinet in the coming days.
