SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - A judge on Friday disqualified the head of an inquiry into a surgeon linked to the deaths of 88 patients in a move that could end the investigation into the physician dubbed "Dr. Death."
The focus of the inquiry was how surgeon Jayant Patel was allowed to practice medicine in Australia despite a 20-year history of botched operations in the United States.
Queensland Supreme Court Justice Martin Moynihan ruled that the head of the inquiry, Tony Morris, appeared biased against two health officials at Bundaberg Base Hospital, where Patel practiced for two years.
