NEW YORK (AP) - Oil prices slumped Wednesday as supply worries eased and the government warned that the record prices produced by Hurricane Katrina will eventually cut into consumption.
The October crude contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange fell $1.59 to $64.37 a barrel after hitting an intraday low of $63.90 a barrel.
Among petroleum products futures, heating oil futures were the hardest hit, weighed down by plunging natural gas futures.
