TOKYO (AP) - The dollar rose against the yen and euro Friday in Asian trading as the market awaited the release of a U.S. consumer credit report for August later in the day for further signs on the American economy.
The dollar was trading at 110.53 yen in Tokyo late morning, up 0.21 yen from late Thursday, and just above the 110.52 yen it bought in New York later that day. The euro fell to $1.2415 from $1.2430 late Thursday.
The British pound rose to $1.8365 from $1.8356 after the Bank of England, in a widely expected move, held official interest rates steady at 4.5 percent. The dollar rose to 1.2442 Swiss francs from 1.2424, but fell to 1.1815 Canadian dollars from 1.1891.
