NEW YORK (AP) - Richard Dutrow Jr. is counting on a couple of "rabbits" to help Saint Liam win Saturday's $500,000 Woodward Stakes.
By also entering Crafty Player and Show Boot, pacesetters with early speed, the trainer hopes to prevent a repeat of Commentator's gate-to-wire win over Saint Liam in the Whitney Handicap at Saratoga on Aug. 6.
"We just want to keep that horse busy and not let him loose on the lead," Dutrow said of Commentator, who took an uncontested lead in the Whitney and held on for a narrow win over the late-charging Saint Liam.
