FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) - The chief executive of TJX Cos. resigned abruptly, saying that some of the off-price retailer's smaller divisions "have not met expectations" in the past year and would benefit from a "fresh perspective."
Edmond "Ted" English, 52, has worked for the Framingham-based company for 22 years, the last five as CEO.
TJX said late Tuesday that Chairman Ben Cammarata was named interim president and CEO as the retailer conducts a search for a new chief executive both within and outside the company. English has agreed to serve Cammarata in an advisory capacity during the transition period.
