RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The Carolina Hurricanes have a roster built for the new offense-friendly NHL. At least, it sure looked that way in the preseason.
From a 6-0 shutout in the opener to a 5-2 victory in the finale, few teams had as much success when the games didn't count as the Hurricanes.
They finished with five victories in eight games to lead the Southeast Division.
