DURBAN, South Africa (AP) - Prosecutors asked a magistrate Tuesday to postpone the corruption trial of former Deputy President Jacob Zuma to allow for further investigation.
Billy Downer, representing the state, proposed a new date of Nov. 1, the South African Press Association reported. He also requested the case be moved to the High Court.
Zuma's lawyer, Kessie Naidu, argued that the case could not be moved until a final indictment is issued. Zuma already faces two corruption charges, but prosecutors are investigating additional charges and don't expect the case to go to trial before March.
